A Dennisport, Mass., man allegedly abused the patients he was hired to care for at a Cape Cod nursing home, police said Wednesday. NewsCenter 5’s Amalia Barreda reported that the attorney general’s office is prosecuting the case because the complaints came into the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. It would be a serious situation for anyone, but especially for Isaac Joseph. He fled the government of former Haitian leader Jean-Bertrand Aristide and is subject to potential deportation. Joseph needed a translator Wednesday when he appeared in Orleans District Court. He pleaded not guilty to charges of abusing five elderly patients at the Cranberry Pointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Harwich, Mass. All of the alleged victims suffered from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. “(He assaulted them) by punching them, hitting them, several of them in the head, by repeatedly kicking several of them, by tripping them while assisting them in walking and by striking them in the ear,” prosecutor Julie Chattopadhyay said.
