State Rep. Mark Flanagan found the perfect audience Monday to tout a proposal to limit lawsuits against nursing homes. Freedom Village, a Bradenton retirement complex, is paying nearly six times more in liability insurance this year and has passed the higher price on with rate increases for some of its 870 retiree residents. Freedom Village residents still smarting from those rent increases were happy to hear Flanagan call nursing home lawsuits “a real crisis.” “The problem is that the issue is so emotional.
