OKLAHOMA CITY — An advocacy group for the elderly rallied Wednesday against what they call Gov. Brad Henry’s failure to address findings that sexual predators are living among the elderly in the state’s nursing homes. Members of A Perfect Cause and family members of nursing home abuse victims, hand delivered a second letter to the governor urging him to ”identify the agencies responsible for placing violent offenders in long-term care facilities… and those facilities housing offenders.” The first letter was delivered on July 12. Wes Bledsoe, A Perfect Cause president, said there are at least 19 sexual predators living in Oklahoma nursing homes — a fact the governor cannot afford to ignore. ”I have not seen the governor make one statement about this,” he said. ”When you mix violent predators with our disabled and elderly loved ones, bad things happen.” Paul Sund, the governor’s spokesman accepted the letter and said a meeting between Henry and Bledsoe has been tentatively scheduled for next week.
